A pair of very rare E. Gomme Ltd. armchairs from the 'New Cromwell' range, produced in High Wycombe, England, around the 1920s to 1930s. The chairs represent a transition between the Arts and Crafts movement & the early Art Deco period. The English oak chairs with their side panel, curved arms & planked oak support are an attractive silhouette. The arms & top of the backrest have a studded brass nailhead trim around the brown velor fabric. The pair of chairs are comfortable & in good antique condition.
