Backboard W 67 cm x H 29 x D 4 x Buckets H 24 x Lid Diameter 23
A pair of original antique British fire buckets, likely dating from the early-to-mid 20th century. These buckets were historically used as fire safety equipment, specifically intended to be filled with sand to smother electrical or oil fires. The buckets are made of riveted steel & painted in a traditional "railway red". Each bucket is marked with "FIRE" and "SAND" and features a royal cypher.
They are shown hanging from wall-mounted cast iron brackets on a wooden backboard, a common setup for historical fire stations or public buildings. The buckets both have lids with no holes. Some fading & age related petina is evident. See photos.
